Intramed Plus, Inc. was founded in May 1991 by two pharmacists, George (Dick) Schwerin, R.Ph., and Varner Richards, Pharm.D. It was their vision to develop a service that treated patients in the home setting with respect and compassion, while also providing the highest level of quality in home infusion services. Prior to the founding of Intramed Plus, Varner and Dick had years of home infusion experience in a large teaching institution and with a national home infusion provider.

In 1991, Intramed Plus had one office located in Columbia (Midlands). In 1997 and 2003, offices opened in Charleston (Low Country) and Greenville (Upstate), respectively, to better serve the entire state of South Carolina. In 2007, our first Ambulatory Infusion Suite was opened in the Columbia office to serve the growing need for patients to receive intravenous therapies in a monitored setting as indicated by the prescribed medication. Ambulatory Infusion Suites are now open in each office location.

Intramed Plus began with a team of five (5) employees and has since grown to a team of over 90 employees who provide services to more than 500 patients daily.

Intramed Plus remains privately-owned and continues to foster a unique work environment for experienced healthcare professionals. We continually work towards a common goal of providing our patients and families with the best specialty infusion services in the nation.
